Hi All
Just wondering had an issue today cant figure this one out

I have built my components, sandbox tested, tested on local apache 2.x - All works fine

I think its more of a iis configuration / windows permissions issue... but just wondering if anyone has seen a similar problem

I have installed my tested and working components on another server running IIS-6 and fast cgi with Joomla 2.5.8

all components are cook 2.0, jquery builds

Administrator side functions properly

Frontend
- created some menu links in the front end for various components
- logged in as the Joomla super administrator
- following the menu links from the front end displays only the home page
- BUT for each component menu link accessed locally the address bar it shows http://myserver/mysite/index.php/myviewname

Any help to solve this strange issue would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

For the moment I don't know. (Working on Mac / UNIX)
...And my windows machines are running with WAMP...

Do you have this error only with ISS ?

Can you try to investigate this please ? And furnish some contributions ?

This kind of issues are very specific, and I love it !!!
I would like Cook can handle as much configurations as possible.

Many thanks...
Coding is now a piece of cake

Do many people host joomla on IIS?

When I first started using Joomla, I was advised to stay away from IIS, in fact, as a mac user, I only use a pc for cross-browser compatibility testing as there are minor differences in the same browsers on different OSs.

I understand you may want to offer it and sure, you may have a personal need to run on IIS but if not, I wouldn't kill yourself to get it working on windows as I'm just not sure of the demand from Joomla Users.

Anyway, best of luck!!!

Thanks Admin,
For those with a A standard iis-x with fast cgi setup on a standard windows machine components may work without any problems and i would be interested to know of any one using IIS / Fast CGI

For sure i will test further...
But all i can say for the moment is the configuration of this machine may or may not be the issue...
IIS-6 is on a Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 with ISA Firewall... something most users may never encounter

i have another machine that is iis-x with fast cgi will try to get time to check in the next few days leave it with me

Thanks Gez,
I hear you i must say that IIS has never been my friend either. My best friend on Windows is Apache never had issues, tried several solutions similar to WAMP but always found that with a manual apache, mysql, php setup i could get the configuration the same if not very close to the live hosted server

For many years... never looked back to IIS but unfortunately the cook components are replacing some of the less flexible functionality of Share Point Services and both must be available during the transition to Joomla on the same machine using iis (not my choice)

Yes later move to an Apache box but for now IIS

Hi all
I just checked the technical requirements of Joomla 2.5 on the joomla website and it indicates that minimum IIS is v7 although I have found a number of posts on the www that indicate that IIS 6 is ok

I guess we can only be guided by the Joomla technical documents for now that indicate the following
Joomla 3.x IIS7 minimum
Joomla 2.5 IIS7 minimum
Joomla 1.5 IIS6 minimum

Still interested if anyone else has IIS6 and Joomla 2.5

@admin there is only cook components on it at the moment but will test for you anyway

FIXED!!! Not really but found workaround for now

JOOMLA 2.5 / COOK 2.0 / IIS6 all playing nicely together (so far)

The workaround is
- disable Search Engine Friendly URLs (enabled by default on Joomla 2.5 install)

BTW
joomla config file was also marked as read only as well (uncheck the read only attribute first before trying to change)

@admin - all cook components working in the front end after disabling Search Engine Friendly URLs (but full functionality of these components not yet tested)

Now for some research on url rewrite modules on IIS6

Hi BTB300

see
docs.joomla.org/IIS
for:
"... IIS: For servers today still running IIS6 or earlier ...CodePlex ... hosts at least two good-quality URL rewrite solutions for IIS6...."

I have not tested them. But hope it helps you:
www.codeplex.com/site/search?query=url%2...ance&licenses=|&ac=8

greets & good luck
