As promised, jQuery is now integrated as the unique javascript framework for Cook.
We have loved MooTools, but it is now time for changes.
jQuery is really powerfull stable and fast. Such qualities are now integrated in the core of your component.
MooTools is now deprecated and will not anymore be available in future, but the cross-framework compatibility is kept.









If you want to try jQuery, you must enable it in the config.

Joomla is not really designed for the moment to handle correctly the javascript validation of the forms.
So we choosen a jQuery validator for you to do the job that validate.js of Joomla cannot do.

This new validator is automatically instancied when you run on jQuery framework. (see before)

A very famous colorpicker has been introduced in version 1.5.
It provide you a large spectrum of functionalities.

This new version is an hybride between 1.4 and 2.0.
We are approching the migration and some functionalities of 2.0 pops up in this 1.5 version.

It is the last turbulences zone before final stability.

So don't worry if you face some issues, please use the forum to make a signalement.
The more fast are detected the issues, the more fast grows the application.

We are responding and fixing in a very short time.

JDom has been improved and simplificated.

With the coming of jQuery, your component will benefits of a much better ergonomy, with unlimited plugins you will be able to create and integrate easily.

For example, look at the colorpicker.
Open its JDom class file to understand how it works.

1. Define the PHP rendering HTML.
2. Include your assets files (js, css, images)
3. Fill some JS scripts executed at the initialization of the control.

Really easy !

For each plugin you create, you do not anymore have to worry about the dependencies and how to instanciate them.
Use a simple JDom call, and that's it.
The power of JDom is abstration !!!

Issues are fixed every day. Today, almost of the majors instabilities are away.

• IE issues.
• All javascript issues (thanks jQuery)
• Formvalidator bugs (save button, cancel)
• Dataset restoring in sandbox (stabilizing it now)
• Date and Time
• Search box
• Ajax issues
• Foreign keys (filters and initialization)
• Ordering and pagination

Still a lot of issues are hidden and need to be discovered.

A little bit of Ajax has been introduced in Cook Self Service.


The idea is to be able to avoid loading of huge lists to optimize performances and ergonomy.


You can use this feature for any foreign key dropdown lists. (forms and filters)

New MVC structure (Cook 2.0)

With this end of life, we are preparing a completely rewrited MVC structure, which will be much more clean, efficient and fully normalizated for 2.5.


What's in this new MVC ?

• LIGHTER : Less files and shared models and controllers (Front & Back)
• MORE STANDARD : Migration to JForms.
• PHP STANDARD : Much better normalizated code for PHP strict standards (PHP 5)
• MORE OPEN : Derivated customizable classes for rebuilding the structure easily.
• MORE READABLE : Commented source and standard for documentations.
• MORE POWERFULL : Lots of integrated functionalities from native 2.5.
• FASTER : Use Joomla 2.5 cache functionalities.
• MORE STABLE : The structure is definitive, so there will not be anymore collateral damages when upgrading the Builder.
