I am a newbie and impressed by the functionality of this component builder. I have the following idea.

I want to create a component were users can add titles and descriptions for an object. I has to be a multi-language component and i don't want to have these titles and descriptions in ini-files.

Joomla 1.7 has already multi-language functionality. When you look in the joomla tables there are fields created in the content and menu tables. The fieldname is language, type varchar(7). In these fields the language tag is added, for example en-GB or * for all languages.

I would be very nice that there is a Data Type for the Language field that contains the functionality to store the language tag and that will show in forms all the available languages as a combo box that are installed as content in the Joomla installation.

I hope that this is a something for the the to-do list.

INI files are for the component strings.

What you are speaking about is more related to multi-language contents.

This functionality is not available yet.

In our list of devs, we think about creating a Joomfish compatible plugin for all content fields you want to translate. It will be available current 2012.

So sorry. This functionality is very important.

Ok, but Joomfish is still not available for Joomla 1.7 and the question when it will come.

Joomla 1.7 has functionality for multi-language content by itselfs. Why not use that functionality instead of creating a Joomfish compatible plugin?

Yes it is better for sure.

I thought more easy to build a plugin for a software that almost people use for translations.

But in facts, I agree with you, it is much better to integrate in the stand alone component. To keep the philosophy of Cook. And integrate it too in 1.5.
